Captain Joe Hibbeln
Dr. Joe Hibbeln discussed health and nutrition related to disease prevention and health maintenance on April 2nd.
The morning session included Morgan County school administrators, PTO representatives, counselors, social workers, nurses and school food personnel. Dr. Hibbeln answered questions and discussed current knowledge of how foods affect behavior and prevent problems.
In the evening, Dr. Hibbeln led an open community discussion to give more County residents a chance to learn new insights being developed by Dr. Hibbeln and to learn ways to apply that knowledge in the daily lives of their families.
The discussions led FAST to add new awards to the Very Short Video Contest at the County Fair. Also, FAST will host an "Omega-3 Pizza Contest" with awards for recipes that use ideas like those in "Morgan County Menus" and "The Ultimate Omega-3 Diet" to help people balance omega-3 and omega-6 hormone precursors in their body and implement tasty, healthy changes in daily family life. "Morgan County Menus" booklets were given free to all attendees (get your copy at the Morgan County Library or the WVU Extension Office).
