The spring songwriter contest invited songs about “Social Justice” and made three awards from 17 entries. The November contest made three awards from 10 song entries about “Morgan County Life”. Awards were also made at the County Fair for the top three of 10 very short videos on social studies. 2008 - While planning songwriter and video contests, the WVU Extension Director, Denis Scott, noted that FAST did not acknowledge a large set of information in Social Studies. As a result, categories for Social Studies were added to give four areas for very short video contest awards and for continuing program interactions that blend arts and technologies while viewing and interpreting the reality around us. 2007 - FAST co-sponsored with the Morgan County Library an exhibit and community discussions of how computer technology can give people easy access to examine and learn details of published Morgan County reports and how broadband internet helps access the West Virginia Code and other documents describing required local government procedures.
